Sweet Dynasty

If you are not accompanied by someone familiar with the inner streets off Nathan Road, you could just miss Sweet Dynasty, a restaurant known for its Chinese desserts.  It was a good thing that my friend Joey was a long-time regular, and we got to its new address along Canton St. in good time.  We had fried noodles, some radish cake, fried rice toppings, some noodles, rice cake and steamed greens.  Servings came in around 10 minutes after we ordered.

The food was good, and it was just good timing that we got in around 1pm , so the place was no longer full from the lunch crowd.  The bicho-bicho was typically traditional (no taste whatsoever), and I think I like the local version better (slightly salted).  Desserts were A-1, and some items already had a western touch.  We had a hot black been paste and chocolate covered rice balls, which, to Monique's pleasant surprise, had a crunchy core.  Our bill came to around P650 per head.  I think it is best to eat Chinese food in a group, so that a variety of viands can be ordered, and that everyone gets to taste a little bit of everything; and I was glad we were able to do exactly just that!
