Bulgogi Garden

It was Gwammy's lunch treat.  We were just hanging around the main house, not doing anything much, when we decided to eat out, saving her the hassle of preparing lunch for the group.  I wanted to try a new place, and she agreed to visit Bulgogi Garden along Kalayaan Road (near Matalino St.), which was constantly full on weekends.  Being a weekday, we got there with plenty of parking slots to spare.

The appetizers come straight from the rolling food tray.  There was a good variety and although they had no preserved dilis which I wanted, Gwammy was particularly happy with the kim chi (fermented veggies).  In general, the food came to the table with just a short wait.  The chap chae (noodles slightly thicker than sotanghon) was delivered immediately and was welcomed by Anita's kids.  I'm usually wary of spicy food, but the kalbi chim (beef stew) wasn't that overpowering, and had just the right combination of sweetness and spice.

The bulgogi (BBQ) was cooked tableside, and was interesting to watch, specially with the side ring of scrambled eggs cooking simultaneously with the meats.  To round up our meal, we also ordered pajeon (pancakes with onion stalks) and bibimbop (mixed rice).

I wish we had ordered more of the bulgogi, as this was quite flavorful.  My only comment is that while the marinated meats look bountiful when delivered, the cooking shrinkage is evident and the net weight of the cooked meat left me wanting more.  In short, bitin! Gwammy spent something like P500 per head, and we were quite satisfied with the outcome of our little food scouting escapade.
