Rosary Church

I found myself going around the south portion of Chatham Road, and I came to see Rosary Church near the corner of Austin Road.  It isn't a common thing to find Catholic churches in Hong Kong; since the gates were closed, I just said a silent prayer of thanks.

Capilla Lorenzo de Manila

I was at the Manila Pavilion for a meeting with some gaming officials.  After what seemed to be such a long day, I stopped briefly at the 5th floor chapel, Capilla Lorenzo de Manila for some quiet prayer.  I heard that the old owner of the hotel, Ambassador Delgado, was once the Philippine dignitary to the Holy See, and the chapel is still in operation today as it has been since the days of the Manila Hilton.  I understand that the doors of the chapel are replicas of the doors at the San Agustin Church (or the Manila Cathedral, if I am mistaken).  I can see why a lot of buildings have a house of prayer; the short respite was quite refreshing! 

LTO Chapel

I was quite surprised that the LTO office along East Avenue had a chapel right at the waiting area of the main hall.  If the hall would be covered with plastic chairs, I'd say that a group of 500 people would be able to sit comfortably for mass.

Chapel of the Holy Family (Fairview Terraces)

It's a simple chapel at the Fairview Terraces Mall in Quezon City, the Chapel of the Holy Family.  It gets full on weekends so make sure to be early to ensure seating space.

Sta. Monica Church

Our mini-vacation in Botolan was also an educating trip for us.  We visited Sta. Monica church, which was built in the 17th century.  We were surprised to find that the roof was being rebuilt with steel trusses, a modern touch to the stately architecture of the church. Peaceful, simple and surprisingly cool on a hot summer day.

Botolan Mormon Church

We were reminiscing in the middle of Botolan, Zambales, and we came across the town's Mormon church.  It struck us that the architecture and layout of their churches all around the country were pretty much cast in the same fashion.  Mikaela, however, explained that there are of course, slight differences.  I understand that this particular church was built some 15 years ago, and has been pretty well maintained.

Union Church of Manila

The Union Church of Manila, born of the Presbyterian and Methodist missionaries on board the USS Thomas, has its home in Rada St., Legaspi Village.  I was in the area recently and had a chance to say a little prayer in its Prayer Garden.  It's an oasis for work-weary participants in the Makati rat race.

Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life

While waiting for Monique at the SM Mall of Asia, I found myself amazed at the architectural detail of the Shrine of Jesus Church, which was erected way before the mall was constructed.  The traditional facade is in direct contrast with the modern building shapes of the mall and the SM Arena.  I've already written about the growing trend to have churches in commercial areas, and I think it's a good idea to blend the two in one locale.
