Yaku

Had a lunch meeting at the Ortigas area, and my friend suggested that we go Japanese, naming Yaku restaurant at the Podium as our meeting place.  It was lucky that we were able to get the seat beside the window as he wanted, the place was quite full on a Thursday lunch. The restaurant is owned by the Webbs, and it while it doesn't advertise much, word-of-mouth has kept the place well visited since its inception.

We had some sushi, some yakitori sticks and cold noodles.  I particularly enjoyed their gyoza--this was quite tasty and came in fresh from the frying pan.

I was amused with their place mats; they designed a pouch for the chopsticks, which was pretty neat!  The bill came to something like P450 per person, and I could see that the reasonable pricing was one of the reasons why the place has been well patronized.  However, portion sizes here are not that generous, and this is probably typical of Japanese restaurants, not much on your plate, leaves you wanting more...
