I like the food in Namnam (probably derived from the Tagalog word "malinamnam" meaning tasty or delicious). This restaurant opened recently at the Greenbelt 2 mall, and has gained a lot of followers already. The location is where the old Masas used to be (I have no idea if this is a totally new group, or if this is restaurant is still owned by the same owners of Masas, merely with redesigned interiors and with a new take on the menu). The family entered the restaurant for an early dinner (around 6pm) and in thirty minutes, the tables started to get filled. Namnam offers 2 types of Filipino cuisine--the classic and the tweaked. Since it was our first time to try the place, Monique suggested that we go for the classics first.

Monique enjoyed the pakwan shake |

The bone marrow kansi is one of the best we have tried |
Laing was fresh and tasty, slightly spiced up to have some oomph |
Vicky liked the kare-kare, soft oxtail meat, thick peanut sauce, great aroma! |
Sisig was sizzling when it arrived, and Monique has a feast! |
They called this noodle dish Batil Patung, a favorite in the Cagayan Valley |
We had tinapa rice aside from the plain white rice for the kare-kare

That meal cost around P500 per head, and I think of this as value-for-money, since the taste and the quality of the food is quite good. If you have balikbayan friends, or foreign guests, this is one place you can take them to, without having to part with an arm and a leg. The next time we try the place, we'll probably go with the tweaked menu, and I hope it will be as good as the classic dishes.
