Had a lunch meeting at Benassi Italian restaurant along Jade Drive at the Ortigas Center. This is a stone's throw away from the Ortigas trading floor of the Philippine Stock Exchange. The restaurant is pretty new, maybe six to eight months in operation. We arrived just before 1pm on a weekday and the place was around 70% full. While there is a big parking lot in front of the restaurant, slot availability is a big question mark mid-day, and this is a drawback for guests.
I had a dish called carne alla pizzaiola, which was like beef stew with mashed potatoes. Tasty, but it was served warm but I would have liked it plated a bit hotter, for that great aroma and zing. The restaurant is a good place for informal chit chat with business contacts; they also serve St. Cinnamon pastries and Illy coffee, perfect for mid-day snacks. I spent some P350 for the dish, but if you will have soup, or an appetizer and drinks, prepare something like P700 per head for lunch.
