Latitude

I had a quick lunch meeting yesterday at the Latitude coffee shop of the Traders Hotel along Roxas Boulevard.  It is commonly known that this hotel is owned by the former Ambassador Roberto Benedicto, but not a lot of people know that the hotel is operated by the Shangri-la chain of hotels, Traders being one of their brands for the middle market segment.  The restaurant had a buffet promo for something like P650 per person, but we decided to order some sandwiches; taking the buffet would entail standing up every few minutes, and we wouldn't have time for business discussions.  I had mushroom soup, a cheeseburger and a glass of mango shake (spend of around P750) and this fast meal was very filling.  The cheeseburger came in with a beefy aroma, and I was pretty happy with the temperature, the consistency of the patty and the overall taste.

The hotel used to be branded as a Holiday Inn in the seventies and eighties.  The location (fronting the Cultural Center of the Philippines) is great for conventions (near the Philippine International Convention Center, the World Trade Center and even the SMX Hall).  I understand that renovation work is ongoing, and the current ambiance has improved a lot--there was a time in the nineties that the hotel had a worn-out feeling.
