Mr. Jones

It seems that the Raintree group has a successful retro restaurant in Mr. Jones, a sixties-inspired diner located at the ground floor of the Greenbelt Mall.  We have been passing by the restaurant for some years now, and when I suggested to Monique to try the place, she was all smiles.  It so happened that Andie and I arrived early and pre-ordered; Vicky and Monique came in just in time to start off our dinner.

What a meal!  When Cassie, our food server told us that the serving sizes were good to share, she wasn't kidding.  We had beef pot roast, pork steak, seafood linguine and a wet burrito!

The meat dishes were soft and flavorful.  The burrito was not bad, but the stuffing was slightly bland in spite of the sliced jalapeno pepper; it was delivered to our table nicely plated, so full of color that I expected the dish to have more zing.  The linguine was very good though, seafood was fresh and the added touch of lime made it very interesting.

All in all, we spent something like P600 per head.  Not bad at all, considering that this restaurant is located in the prime spot of the Greenbelt garden area where the average spend in neighboring restaurants can go up to as high as P2,000 per head.  One thing that I noticed though is that the tables and the washroom are starting to show signs of stress, and the physical plant could use a little face lift soon; not that it's already aging, but just to keep the standards up there.
