Kempai! It was Bryan's big celebration; he just graduated with a cum laude in Psychology from the University of the Philippines. He wanted a buffet dinner, and Becca decided to hold the event in Sambokojin along West Avenue. This buffet restaurant is part of the Triple V group, and specializes in Japanese-Korean BBQ style cooking, Samokojin being the Oriental God of Fire. The place was jam-packed and it was really good that Becca was able to call in for reserved seats, so Lola Dee wouldn't have any difficulty with waiting time.
The buffet spread is a virtual feast--you have all sorts of fresh sea foods and meat on the one side, and on the other, sushi and sashimi! They also have a cooked food section with stews and noodles, and a dessert table filled with lots of sweet goodies. Not bad for a no-sharing & no-leftover price of just under P700 per person.
Name it, we tried it! Prawns, chicken teriyaki, garlic beef strips, crab sticks, maki rolls, tuna & salmon sashimi, udon, kalbi-chim, and even chawan mushi were all available. The kids enjoyed the cooking experience, and they kept of laughing whenever one would over-grill meat to a black scorch marks.
This was our yakiniku table--features a grill stove right in the middle where you can cook to your heart's content. It's really tummy indulgence: the waiter will give you a slab of beef fat to keep on the grill as the anti-stick cooking lube--no excuses about cholesterol levels accepted here...
