At the hospital, I spent three days watching reruns of John Carter, the Disney movie about the Barsoom (Mars) books, written by Edgar Rice Burroughs (more popularly known as the creator of Tarzan). While the movie has been designated as a box-office flop (needing $600 million to break even), I found it very touching, quite entertaining, and easy to follow. Martian princess Dejah Thoris (played by the gorgeous Lynn Collins, shown above), is set to marry the enemy king for political reasons, but is actually in love with earthman John Carter. Will the earthman rescue the princess in time? Ahh... wonderful climax!
