Persia Grill

Persian food anyone?  Since the early seventies, Manila has played host to a lot of Iranians who have studied and have lived here.  After the fall of the Shah of Iran, the numbers of Iranian students have dwindled--I understand that at present, Iranians are only allowed limited travel abroad.  We are lucky that some Persian pocket communities have made Manila their home.  At the ground floor of the Valero car park, you can find Persia Grill, one of the reasonably-priced Persian-Mediterranean eateries in town.

I couldn't resist the lamb biryani, which was one of the most expensive items on the menu (P385).  The lamb chunks (hidden under all that rice), were tender and flavorful.  Sauce was served on the side, and complemented the meal.  Interiors were pleasant, and I noticed that depictions of warriors on horses was a common theme displayed in Persian restaurants.  I have also been to the residence of the Iranian Ambassador in Manila and these pictures are  also displayed, which I guess is part of the proud Persian culture dating back several millenia.
