My niece Angie gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, and right after the christening, the couple invited the clan to a dinner at the Buffet 101 restaurant at the Eastwood Center. I had thought that the restaurant was located at the mall proper, but as it turns out, you have to cross the street to get there. It's a big restaurant, and you won't miss it when you drive around the circular road of the Eastwood Center. The place was jam-packed on a Saturday night; we arrived a bit late so we had to make the beso-beso rounds while our relatives were already seated.
I didn't go to the salad bar, and went straight to the Japanese corner. They had fresh salmon and tuna sashimi. I also had some grilled squid, chicken barbecue and lamb chops. I was unlucky with the other roast items though; while I did get some roasted duck and lechon, I totally missed out on the rib eye roast and the baby backs. Not that they didn't have any, I just wasn't willing to wait for 25 more minutes before the cooking would be done!
The kids just loved the dessert spread. The pastries were presented in plenty of mouth watering colors. Ice cream was abundant, and the buffet came with drinks--iced tea, lemonade, soda and coffee. Fruits though, were limited to pineapples, papaya and watermelon. The buffet costs anywhere from P700 to P1,000 per person, depending on which time slot you walk in (weekends and nights are more expensive). Seating is a bit tight so it's always an advantage to call in for table reservations.
