Asiana Cafe

The last time I wrote about the Palm Country Club in Alabang, some friends invited me over to have a lunch at Cafe Asiana right after we went to look at real estate finds in Cavite and Laguna. This Sunday was different, no business involved; it was a leisurely family brunch with Alexis and Jefferson, and we spent several hours just lounging around the table.  We had time to go over every detail of the buffet--

Everyone started off lining up at the Japanese section.  The sashimi was very fresh, and the kids just loved the different sushi preparations.  The preliminary spread was loaded with lots of greens, cheese, cured meats (beef carpaccio included) and smoked fish.  The oysters topped with cheese and spinach were my favorite target; I probably had around 6 or 7 pieces!

The outdoor barbecue counter served hot meat skewers, and while the lamb chops were a bit on the dry side (grilled too early on), I did enjoy the variety of sausage they prepared.

Main course highlights included gambas, roast beef, and the ever popular lechon.  I couldn't resist!  The lechon skin was crunchy and very tasty.  Love it!

We finished the meal with lots of dessert, and by this I mean we went back and forth several times.  I started with fruits that don't appear regularly at the spreads of other buffet restaurants--my favorites, lanzones and mangosteen!  A wonderful idea to have these, and my congratulations to the F&B manager of the club.  The ice cream stand served the Arce brand, and I was lucky to get the Dark Caramel ice cream and the Calamansi sherbet, again two of my favorites.

I was told that the buffet comes to around P1,100 per person, but take note that one can only have lunch there if he or she were a guest of a club member.  Great time with family, good time to catch up on comings and goings.  We surely exchanged a lot of stories and by the time we parted it was past 4 pm already.  Major pleasures in life--good food and family!
