Our lunch meeting was held at the Breakthrough restaurant, and our hosts made sure that our tummies were well taken care of. This restaurant is located by the seashore, and when you enter, you can see the available food all stacked up are ready to be served. In this case, the lechon plates were all displayed in one shelf!
You can see the water tanks where live seafood were kept. You merely point to what you want, and they will cook it for you. They also had a wide array of other viands.
We started off with delicious clear fish head soup. Shrimps and scallops were next in line as we moved on to appetizers. The rice came with lots of crab fat--ouchey for the cholesterol count but yummy to the palate! The native chicken was fried, and had very little fats--the meat could be considered a bit tough, but the taste was very good. Squid came in two different recipes, stuffed and with garlic on a sizzling plate. The piece de resistance? It was a delectable fish the name of which escapes me now. Soft, very tasty white meat, absolutely a gem!
Seaside restaurants have a restful air, and despite the heat of the noontime sun, the breeze kept our spirits up. When we arrived, I had the urge to put on my swimming trunks, but the food started coming in and I my concentrated thoughts went to the meal before us. I would estimate that the meal would have come to some P400 per head; we had a wonderful eating experience.
