This is one hidden gem of a restaurant and party place. Casa Renato lies along Dahlia Avenue in West Fairview, and you probably only know of Dahlia Avenue because the jeepneys plying the Taft Avenue are marked with "Dahlia - Fairview." Yes, it's a bit difficult to find, especially for people from Metro southerners. Monique, the Callars and I went to have dinner there just after Christmas, and we were in for a surprise treat as we went around the restaurant. So many magical nooks!
We started off with some shrimp bisque, which was different from most others in town--creamier, more saffron than tomato I would guess. We also ordered some gambas to share for our appetizer. Monique and I asked for lamb; one was cooked in curry and the other dish was done Navarin style (ragout/stew). The Callars chose Salisbury steak, beef salpicao and callos.
Wonderfully good cuisine at affordable prices, around P600 per person. We were lucky that they opened the rear portion for us to dine in, there were simply too many diners to accommodate at the front portion that night. Cozy and quaint, you can see that the owner really took time to give a lovely dining experience for their patrons. Will we go back? Definitely.
