El Artesano

Almond nougats!  While the sweetness levels are pretty high on the scale, I still had some of this torta turron from Alicante, Spain which were given to Vicky by a friend of hers.  I understand that the Alicante turrones are a bit hard than the usual rolled ones, and you do have to exert some effort in chewing.  In this delicious treat, almonds are sweetened with honey and sandwiched in between egg white wafers.  The dessert is often served during Christmas time, although I don't mind having some mid-year year!
