Tenka

Gwammy's clan reunion takes place every first week of December, and we decided to have some Japanese hotpot this year.  Cheryl, my niece, was flying in from Canada with her family, and we wanted to have something interesting.  Tenka at the Glorietta 4, was the perfect choice as it was centrally located and the pricing was very reasonable--eat all you can for P550 per head for Saturday lunch.

We started off with lots of Japanese style coleslaw and cold soba.  The meal comes with 1 short order of your desire (sashimi, yakitori, karaage were popular choices) and I decided to satisfy my cravings for mixed sashimi.

You are given some 5 choices for the soup base, and we tried a little of everything--pork broth, miso, sukiyaki and sate.  Ingredients were brought to our table very fresh such that the resulting soup was pretty much a winner!

I particularly ordered lots of shrimp, marbled beef, fish lips and oysters, so you can just imagine the symphony of flavors.

The dessert bar was pretty much fruits in season and small slices of cakes and pastries.  The ice cream counter was the punchline--lots of Big Scoop ice cream flavors to choose from.  I like the interiors--clean, bright and pretty new (the place opened just a few months ago).  I pays to be early though; even if you make reservations, they only hold your table up to 11:30 am.

It's a good thing to see relatives at least once a year.  The children are now working adults, and some of my nephews and nieces have children of their own.  Time does fly very fast!
