They were Sweden's most popular export. I remember loving the tune and lyrics of Dancing Queen from the very first moment I heard it. That was sometime in 1976, and we immediately identified with the song. The local discotheques were playing the song over and over again. It was in the airwaves. It was THE dance tune for several months. Over the new few years, their music would make us so joyfully whole. When the band disbanded in 1982, a lot of us were shocked and disappointed. The commercial success had taken a heavy toll on their respective marriages, and they could no longer work together. A few months ago, the news wires reported that the former spouses got together to sing impromptu at a private party, just for old time's sake. Fantastic! Well, while ABBA may not have a reunion concert, their songs live on in our hearts.
