We decided to hold our clan meeting in Makati, which was central for all of us. As the Glorietta Mall opened, we met at the Dekada restaurant which was right next to the entrance of the Landmark Department Store. They pair their dishes with Philippine historical figures, and it seems that Rizal, Bonifacio and Plaridel have suddenly transformed into gastronomic delights.
We started the meal with a seafood combination of halaan soup and inihaw na pusit, followed by chicken inasal and kare-kare topped with crispy bagnet. How much more mouth-watering can you get? Add some laing, sizzling bulalo, tenderloin salpicao and garlic sugpo and one simply cannot ask for more. Serious matters on the table were put on hold once the food started to roll in.
Panghimagas. I think we finished our discussions at almost 2pm. Dessert seemed like an early afternoon merienda. I wanted to doze off for a few minutes as my tummy stretch was getting uncomfortable. While we agreed on a lot of things, we also agreed to disagree on a few matters. At around P600 per person, it was a good meal, and the mental calculations for the serious matters at hand didn't seem as daunting anymore.
