Ichiba Japanese Market

We haven't been to the Newport Mall for some years now.  It just so happened that Vicky had to attend a cocktail party at one of the ballrooms at the Marriott, so Monique, Raymond and I had to kill a few hours at the Resorts World Manila.  It was already around 8:30 pm and since we were quite hungry, we unanimously voted to have a hearty Japanese dinner at the Ichiba restaurant, which was designed to have a market-like atmosphere.

The sashimi was pretty fresh.  The shrimp sushi we ordered was also a hit.  Gyoza was tasty, although I felt that the portion size of the meat filling was disappointing and could be improved.  Same could be said for the beef gyudon.  For an average food check of P700 per head, I had expected the restaurant to be a bit more generous with the beef strips.  My tummy's still grumbly!

That night, we were not lucky as the POS machine went off-line, and we had to wait some 20 minutes for the cashiers to manually process our bill.  By the time we left, Vicky's affair had ended and she was already waiting for us a the ballroom foyer.  It was a good thing that none of us had been playing at the slots!
