Hummus Elijah

Vicky had been looking at the latest web ratings of Hummus Elijah for some weeks now, ever since her craving for hummus began.  Not many restaurants in Metro Manila serve hummus, and she had to search for the top 10 recommendations before she made her choice.  Monique has once before declined the invitation, but she was available this Sunday, and the three of us set out to Makati Avenue to have a quick merienda.  We were pretty lucky to park right in front of the restaurant, considering that the parking slot was for a single vehicle.

The hummus is good.  Creamy, has the right amount of flavor, without being overpowering.  With some tsikizi, the combination is just the way I had imagined it to be.  The girls liked the falafel; I had the lafa roll with some labane, which unfortunately didn't make much of an impression with me.

The baklava is another winner; P200 for 4 pieces, which we finished in just 30 seconds.  It has just the right amount of sweetness, and the nuts are fresh, ground well enough without being reduced to mush.  The afternoon crowd was a steady stream of tourists and locals, seats would be taken and vacated in 30 minutes.  The restaurant also sells a variety of nuts and spices, and I figured that they could be a major distributor as the packaging came in both retail and wholesale sizes.
