When traveling alone, I like staying at businessmen's hotels. No overboard chandeliers and fancy carpets, quick and easy check-in & check-out, good locations accessible by subway or airport bus. I recently had a meeting at the Mercure along San Miguel Avenue in the Ortigas district, and found their reasonably priced rooms (around P5k a night) to be adequate for my busy guests.
